McDermott, Lundgren Earn RMAC Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference its weekly award winners for women's soccer Tuesday and for the second consecutive week, two members of the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team recognized for their performances, as Reese McDermott and Allie Lundgren were named Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week respectively.
McDermott takes home the third weekly honor of her career and first since October 3 of last season following an impressive weekend of action. The senior from Houston became the third player to record three career hat tricks in program history Sunday when she led the way in a 5-0 win over West Texas A&M, finishing with seven points on the afternoon off the bench as she also logged an assist. Thursday night against Lubbock Christian, she was held off the scoreboard but did put up six shots as part of a 31-shot effort by the team in a 2-0 win. For the weekend, she tallied seven points with three goals and an assist on 12 shots with four on goal over 116 minutes over action. McDermott now ranks tied for third all-time in career goals with 38 and is tied for the RMAC lead in goals this season with four.
For Lundgren, she earns the first weekly honor of her career after making just her fifth and sixth career appearances and third career start. The junior from Coto de Caza, California came on in relief in the second half Thursday night against Lubbock Christian and saved the only two shots she faced and combining for a shutout that saw just five total shot attempts in a 2-0 win. Sunday against West Texas A&M, Lundgren tallied three saves in her first regular season start in almost two years while directing a defensive effort that yielded only six shot attempts in a 5-0 win. For the weekend, she logged 135 minutes with five saves with zero goals allowed on her way to her second career shutout.
