DEIA Day

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Description
The DEIA Day will include important updates by Dr. Kate Youmans for the priorities and direction of DEIA at Mines and two facilitated sessions by DEIA experts at Justice Leaders Collaborative, featuring Greg Myers (he/him) and Lois McCullen Parr (she/her). The day-long event will include complimentary breakfast and lunch for all participants.
This day of learning is specifically tailored to engage faculty and staff at all levels of their DEIA journeys. The expert-facilitated sessions will start with community-building activities before launching into the fundamentals of DEIA, such as the role of social identities and discussions around privilege and oppression, to build a common language and knowledge-based for participants. The second facilitated session will dive deeper into these concepts and actively engage participants in how to apply their DEIA knowledge and skills to their work at Mines.
Attendance is by invitation-only and is on a “first-come-first-served” basis. General Council members: Please send only one representative from your unit to attend.
