- Oct 912:00 PMEarly-career faculty workshops (open to aP + postdocs)Are you as assistant professor looking to get a strong start on promotion and/or tenure? Join these lunch workshops! The “Launching Your Academic Career” faculty workshops start again this August. Workshops are offered every other Monday from 12-1:30 in Berthoud 106 (content from 12-1, extended time for discussion, as suggested by past participants, is from 1-1:30). Workshops are open to any early-career faculty member on the tenure-, teaching- or research lines as well as postdocs and senior faculty coming from industry or other non-academic spaces to Mines. Come to whichever meetings are of interest, arrive late or leave early, and attend even if you have attended the same workshop(s) in the past! Lunch will be provided, and each week is somewhat independent such that folks can attend as they are able. Topics: Workshop 1 (August 28, 12-1:30): Expectations for Promotion and/or Tenure: Publishing Your Research Workshop 2 (Sept 11, 12-1:30): Setting Up Your Research Group & Developing Its Brand Workshop 3 (Sept 25, 12-1:30): Grant Writing Tips and University Finances for Faculty Workshop 4 (Oct 9, 12-1:30): The Sustainable Professor (Mental Hygiene and Selecting Meaningful Service and Leadership Opportunities) Workshop 5 (Oct 23, 12-1:30): Networking, Finding Mentors, and Managing Personalities Workshop 6 (Nov 6, 12-1:30): Working on Your Dossier (Start Now!)
